The idea of these walks is to meet, do something together and “let them find each other”, outside of everyday activities. “We reserved these classes for women because women’s sports are often neglected,” explains Jean-Pierre Henri, President of the Aiglon Bike Club. An observation he made at his club for several years when the women’s section was established.
“After a two-year break due to the health crisis, I think people want to play sports,” adds Jean-Pierre Henri. To participate in field trips no level required in sports or cycling. The goal is not to prepare for the next Tour of Normandy, but to “get back in the saddle” and “get back in shape”.
“We will adapt to everyone,” the president of the cycling club assures. Depending on the number of registrants, several groups will be formed so that everyone can feel comfortable and go out at their own pace and at their own level. To participate, residents can come with a bicycle and a helmet. If they are not available, the association will provide them with equipment.
Hiking for youth in July
On the other side, comprehensive insurance and social security are mandatory. “This is important in case of a fall,” insists Christopher Celia, President of the Madeleine Civic Council. “Insurance protects not only the organizers, but also the participants. » An information meeting was organized in 2:00 pm Friday, April 29, 2022 in the premises of the Civil Council, in the Meruvel building.

If the operation is successful, the Aiglon biker club and the civic council want to repeat the experience in July. “This time we would like to form several groups, both for young people and for women,” says Jean-Pierre Henri.
