Jill Teichmann (WTA 37) suffered a bitter defeat in the 1/8 finals of the WTA 250 tournament in Istanbul. Seelandaise lost 6-4 6-4 to Austrian Julia Grabherr, 194th in the world and out of qualification.
Seeded at number 5 in the table, Taichmann nevertheless seemed to be able to turn the tide in this part. She did miss a double break point in the second set, at 6-4 4-2, before scoring at 4-4, capturing an opponent’s face-off for the first time. However, the left-hander was unable to continue, losing eight of the last nine points in the match.
Teichmann has not reached the quarterfinals of the clay court tournament since the fall of 2020 in Strasbourg. Since then, she has only won a total of 5 matches in the last 8 tournaments she has played on this surface.
